Maintenance and repair
Tires and alignment
Tires, alignment and balancing, so the vehicle tracks straight and steady.
Uneven tire wear, an off-centre steering wheel or a vibration at a certain speed is rarely a tire problem alone. The cause often sits in the kaki-kaki, the wheel angles or the balance of the rim.
So we check the kaki-kaki before spooring. Setting the wheel angles on top of worn bushings or a loose tie rod just means the result is lost soon after. If a part needs replacing, we explain it first and wait for your approval.
New tires are chosen for the size and load of the vehicle, fitted and then balanced. After spooring the vehicle is road tested to make sure the steering is straight and the vibration is gone. The settings and tire condition go into the service record.

Questions
What is the difference between spooring and balancing?
Spooring sets the wheel angles relative to the body so the vehicle runs straight and the tires wear evenly. Balancing evens out the weight of the wheel and tire so it does not shake as it spins. They are often done together but fix different problems.
When should I have spooring done?
When you fit new tires, after kaki-kaki repair, after a hard impact, or when the vehicle starts pulling to one side. For routine checks, follow the schedule in your vehicle manual.
Can I bring my own tires?
Yes, as long as the size and load rating suit the vehicle and they are in usable condition. We check them before fitting and tell you if anything does not match.
